The Sinking Dollar
Oil is trading over $80 per barrel. Gold is trading over $1060 per ounce. The Euro is trading at $1.50
USD per Euro. The dollar is sinking against most currencies around the world.
The general news media
is not focused on the sinking dollar and the long term implications on the US economy and US political power. The financial
news media is talking about this issue but there is no traction to put this issue ahead of health care reform,
Iraq, Afghanistan, and the unemployment rate.
The trend line for the quality of life in the US relative
to the rest of the world is headed down and down hard. This is what happens when a country dramatically expands
its debt and does nothing to get its economy back in order. Our political leaders assume they can spend their way
out of our problems with no ramifications. They are planning to spend more and more money that doesn't
exist. Our political leaders are fools and not really leaders at all. Real leaders deal with tough
issues and take action. The current team is doing nothing to address the real problem. The US is spending
money it doesn't have and won't have in the future. Cut spending to a level that is affordable. Or eventually the
world will force us to act responsibly. This is so sad but predicable.
The world markets
are taking care of business at the current time. The markets are bigger than any government and are reestablishing value
benchmarks among currencies and commodities world wide. In the end the US dollar will lose in whole or in part its world's
reserve currency status and the US will turn its long held leadership of the world over to other countries.
There is no indication at the moment that any US political leader will take the lead in addressing this problem. It
will take some form of huge financial disaster, even greater than the 2008/2009 debacle, before action is taken. It
is very frustrating because it is completely unnecessary. However, it will happen within a few years.
Take action to protect yourself and your family from the devaluation of the dollar.
