Defuse the Debt Bomb
I urge everyone to view the Defuse the Debt Bomb video that has been posted on my home page.
It is time for all baby boomers to reevaluate the decisions we and our parents have made that negatively impact the
lives of the next generations. The fiscal math doesn't work. We must act now to change direction.
Watch and listen to the video and I am sure you will agree that the time to act is now.

The Campaign to Fix the Debt Press Conference
Tuesday afternoon I attended The Campaign to Fix the Debt Press Conference. C-SPAN and
other news organizations covered the event. I believe this is an extremely important initiative which has some
chance of success. I have embeded the C-SPAN video of the event on my home page.
I asked my question at the 45:00 minute mark of the video. I will be writing and publishing an article
about The Campaign to Fix the Debt later today. Visit www.thepurplemuse.com again soon for my perspective.

Walmart's 50 Year Anniversary
Sam Walton opened his Walmart Discount City store in Rogers, Arkansas in July 1962.
Walmart is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Today, Walmart is the world's largest retailer and world's largest private
employer with over two million employees.
I was watching CNBC this morning as one of the twenty something
reporters did a short segment on Walmart's anniversary. It was clear that some members of the CNBC Squawk Box team didn't
like the fact that Walmart has grown to be such a large force in American and global business.
I wrote an
article about Walmart and posted it on this site several years ago. Even though the article is not featured
on my home page I continue to get many hits on the article every month. People all over the world are fascinated
by Walmart. Check out my article, http://www.thepurplemuse.com/id15.html.
Walmart is one of the greatest examples of creative destruction in the history of business. Sam Walton
redefined the retail industry. Sam Walton started his business when other chains had dominant market positions all over
the United States. Walmart is a great company. They won because they earned people's business through low
prices and good service. They continue to exist and grow because we give them our business every day.
Walmart is not a perfect company. They have made some mistakes during the past 50 years. But Walmart is a company
to be cheered and emulated by others, not criticized. We can collectively put Walmart out of business at any time by
simply refusing to shop at their stores. But because of the very hard work of Walmart's management and employees we
continue to buy things from them in ever increasing quantities because we want what they have to sell.
I wish everyone
in the Walmart family happy anniversary. I wish you continued good luck, as long as you continue to work hard for the
business of the consumers in the US and around the world.
